Established in the early 19th Century, Willunga has many features including an historical Police Station and many slate miners’ cottages. Willunga’s famous slate quarries provided roof tile and other slate products in its early years. More recently Willunga was one of the first Australian towns chosen for the rollout of the NBN.
Another feature of the township is the Willunga Quarry Market, which is held on the second Saturday of each month. The Market located in the centre of the township in the Willunga Recreational Park on Aldinga Rd. Our stallholders have a diverse range of craft products, homemade jams and sauces, cakes, fresh locally grown almonds, honey, sugar and preservative-free fruit wraps, olives, seedlings and potted plants and native shrubs of all types, hand knitted and crocheted hats and beanies, bric-a-brac, second hand tools, books, fragrant soy wax candles and much, much more.
All are welcome to browse, relax and enjoy whilst sipping on a cup of organic coffee (free trade, of course) and a choice of snacks including vegetarian. Pleas visit our information stall if you are seeking for something special at our market, and information regarding the many attractions in the southern vales.
